Charmpin G7 (ENGLISH)

The last december i take part of the activity "Free Trial" on Pandawill

I was selected to test the Charmpin G7, a new brand, with a few participation in the market.

The packing are simple, you can see it in the next pictures,

First look:
A Funny fact that i already see in many forums. I thought the phone didn't work but then i realize that there was a plastic covering the poles of the battery...
The border of the phone bring me to my mind like a fusion of a Sony Xperia and Walkman, i love the combination of the colors (Black+white+organge).
Only have 2 fisical keys, Power and Volumen.

- 4.5 Inches Screen QHD 960*540
- 1600 Mhz Battery
- Android 4.2
- Processor MTK 6589  Quadcore 1.2Ghz
- GSM All bands
- WCDMA (3G) 900 y 2100 (Official description says only 2100, but in the app MobileUncle Tools shows the band 900 available)

- 1GB RAM y 4GB ROM.


The phone on my hands:

Screen:
I love the phones between 4.5 -4.7 inches, have the enought size to fit on one hand.
The color and brightness of the screen are aceptable considering the price of the phone (86 to 99 US). The only negative thing was the multitouch, only recognize 2 fingers, something weird because the most of the times they recognize 5.

Sound:
I'm not fan of listen to music with the loud speaker of the phone, but what can i say, i get a shower and i listened well my playlist on the phone. for another side the hands free get me surprise. They have a really good built in quality.

Processor/Rendiment:
I has have in my hands another MTK 6589 phone, it was a Zopo, but the price was the double of this movil, but the rendiment is the same around 13,000 points in the antutu benchmark. Obviusly the zopo have better caracteristics in the rest of the hardware build in.
Antutu test results:

This video show the fluidity of the phone when i play with it. Don't look at the quality of the video, the app where i record it do that.

Battery:
Duration... In FULL Standby mode, almost i get 48 hrs of duration, with a normal use i get around 14 hrs, and with hard use i get 8 hrs. Wich is good considering that the battery is one of the smallest on the market.

Camera:
Nothing from another world, it says 8mpx, but the pictures looks like 5mpx, but i can't complain, i'm not a professional photograph, for any memory are really good, i let you 2 pictures of my cat in the window, one with HDR and other without HDR.

Resume:
POSITIVE
- Cheap and competitive Price
- MTK 6589 Quadcore processor = Very Good Performance for a basic user
- Camera of 5mpx (interpolated to 8mpx) and front 2mpx.
- Nice and unic design.


NEGATIVE
- Screen with only 2 fingers sensitive
- Battery is the smallest of the market, it could be better if got a 2000 Mhz.

In the price/caracteristic comparition, is a great phone, where you can only win/win, maybe for an basic-medium smarthphone user, if you are a advanced user, who like to install and install and play and do everything you can imagine in your phone, there are another phone in the market, but if you only want it to basics phone utility, play some games when you are bored in the bath or in the waiting room or listen to music in any ocation... or to navigate and social networking this is a great option for a small price.



Personal advice for Playstore,

I did some tests in the phone, because it didn't have pre-installed the playstore and wasn't easy install it.

First you need to make it ROOT, that is easy with the app "framaroot" just googleit and in one click the phone is ready, restart the phone and voalá!


Beeing ROOT user, there is two ways, one is changing the ROM, and the other is following the steps in this forum:

Just follow the steps at the mid of the post where it says "Alternative Method (Manual Installation):"

Then i found this ROMs compatibles with the Charmpin G7 Utime without Fisic menu Keys

This is a MOD that can be install it from the Recovery. This is not a ROM, just clean the trash apps and install another ones. (It install in spanish, but is multilanguage)

Pros:

- Nice start animation.
- Erase trash apps.

Contras: 
- If you have troubles with the focus it didnt correct it.

Charmpin G7

En diciembre participe en aplicar por una prueba gratis en el website Pandawill.com,

Fue seleccionado para probar el Charmpin G7, es una marca poco reconocida, con una corta historia.

El empaque del celular es sencillo, a continuación muestro unas imágenes del desempaque

 

El empaque contenia lo siguiente:
- Celular Charmpin G7 Utime

- Manual de Primer Uso en Español/Ingles

- Cargador de Pared para uso en latinoamerica mas un adaptador europeo.

- Cable para cargar y para transferir Datos USB.

- Manos Libres.

- Bateria de 1600 Mhz.

- Manual del telefono en Chino.

- Mica Protectora

- Tapa adicional de color negro.

 


Primera impresión:
Pensaba que el celular no funcionaba, pero me di cuenta que la batería tenia un plástico cubriendo los polos, por lo cual no se encendía. El teléfono tiene bonitos acabados, que me recordaron a los móviles de Sony. De igual forma no cuenta con teclas físicas para navegación, únicamente cuenta con un botón de encendido y las teclas de volumen.

Caracteristicas:
- Pantalla 4.5 Pulgadas QHD 960*540
- Bateria 1600 Mhz
- Procesador MTK 6589  Quadcore a 1.2Ghz
- GSM todas las bandas
- WCDMA (3G) 900 y 2100 (La descripción oficial dice 2100, pero utilizando el MobileUncle Tools aparece la banda 900 disponible)

- 1GB RAM y 4GB ROM.


Sobre el uso del teléfono

Pantalla:
Para mi me encantan los teléfonos de 4.5 - 4.7 pulgadas, son lo suficientemente grandes para ser maniobrados en una mano.
El color y el brillo de la pantalla son aceptables en base al precio del celular. Lo único negativo fue que el multitouch únicamente reconoce 2 toques, algo que me extraño porque ahora la mayoría de los celulares son de 5 toques.

Sonido:
No soy un fanático de escuchar música con el altavoz del celular, pero que puedo decir sirven para reproducir música mientras me baño, mientras que por un lado los auriculares me han sorprendido, son mejores que muchos de marcas reconocidas que he tenido.

Rendimiento/Procesador:
He utilizado anteriormente un móvil Zopo con Procesador MTK 6589, pero me costo el doble del precio del que cuesta este movil, por lo que se me hace un gran móvil por el precio que tiene.
Hice el test de Antutu y estos fueron los resultados:

A continuación muestro un pequeño vídeo de muestra. El vídeo es de baja calidad, el objetivo es mostrar la fluidez con la que se puede jugar de forma fluida.

Bateria:
La bateria de 1600 Mhz en standby, me llego a durar casi 48 hrs sin conectar. Con uso rudo la termine en 8 hrs, y con un uso normal, llamando, enviando mensajes y jugando a ratos, me duro alrededor de 14 hrs, lo cual es bastante considerando que tiene una bateria chica.

Cámara:
No es nada de otro mundo, dice que es de 8 mpx pero las fotos parecen de 5mpx, pero no se puede uno quejar, tampoco soy un fotógrafo profesional, para una ocasión son muy buenas, dejo dos imágenes de muestra con HDR y sin HDR.

Resumen:
PRO
Por el precio tiene excelentes características, es muy fluido debido al procesador, y las cámaras son lo necesario para subsistir en una ocasión especial.
CONTRA
No me gusto que la pantalla solo tuviera sensibilidad a 2 toques, se siente un poco como una pantalla resistiva.
Y la batería de 1600Mhz, no me quejo, pero la mayoría de los móviles traen 2000 Mhz para arriba, y así no habría que tener siempre en el bolsillo un cable de datos para conectarlo en la oficina.


En base a la relación precio/prestaciones, es un móvil de ganar/ganar, quizás a alguien que usa su móvil de forma avanzada como si fuera una computadora no es muy bueno, pero para un uso medio o como regalo para tu madre, padre, primos, o amigos que no han utilizado android o ios, es una excelente opción para comenzar y a un gran precio .



Consejos Personales,

Hice algunas pruebas con el móvil debido a que no contaba con la playstore instalada de fábrica y no fue muy sencillo instalarla,

En primero para darle acceso ROOT, fue muy fácil, solo instale la aplicación "framaroot" y con un click en la pantalla quedo listo. Reinicie el teléfono y voalá!.

Ya siendo ROOT, la forma mas fácil de instalar la playstore fue utilizando varias ROOMs para probar, estas las conseguí en el foro de HTCmania.

- Creo que algo mas lenta al llevar miui y a mi personalmente me gusta que el movil lleve el theme de android no el de miui

Esto es un mod que se instala desde el Recovery . no es una Rom en si., limpia programas basura y pone algunos imprescindibles

Pros:
- Mejora lo presente añadiendo apps como: 
Flash player, Adway , es file explorer, gps status, root explorer, supersu, teclado google kitkat, galeria Quickpick, androidap.
- Muy bonita animacion de arranque
- Quita algunas aplicaciones basura

Contras: 
- Tactil no termina de ir fino del todo
- si tienes problema de enfoque no te lo corrige

Primer Review "Zopo ZP950+"

My first review

I will be updating this because i dont have a lot of time because my job, i need to add pictures and videos.

A couple of months ago i adquired a Zopo ZP950+

As first impression i get delighted with the quality of the materials and the hardware. I used to get other chinnese brands before with a little of dissapointing, and i was thinking in get a try with Zopo, and i found this excellent oportunity.

About the Box pack, it looks really professional and increases the expectatives about the phone. Inside i could found:
Zopo Zp950+ Cellphone.
Lithium Batery 2500mAh.
Screen Protector.
Back cover with front leather cover.
Usb Charge/Data Cable.
Travel Charger.
Earphones. (Are really Better than what i expected)
Manual.

About the phone design.
The phone is 83.4mm x 158mm x 10.2mm thick and weight around 200grams, with some looks like a Galaxy but... wich don't?
I love the texture of the back cover. But i prefer to use the Back cover with the leather cover for protection even if isn't cool that the first one.

Now... Going to the phone caracteristics:

First it is running Android 4.2 with a MKT6589 procesor, 1GB RAM and 16GB memory.

About the Screen...
The first thing that everyone see is the screen. and i dont really like big screens, 4.7" is the best fit for my hands, but let me tell you that the 5.7 inch of the Zp950+ are really comfortable (my heigh is 1.80m) and ever for my wife (1.60m) are really easy to use. 
The Screen is HD IPS, so is'nt the best, the colors are a little grays, but for the price of the phone is really good. Also the resolution are very good i can compare it with my Motorola Razr HD and the only point where it loose is the brightness, but is more fluid(zopo zp950+) due to its processor.
The only think that i dont really like is that the phone have phisical buttons, and also have the digital ones, it makes loose .3 or .4 inches on the phone screen.

About the Camera...
Then we can see the camera it have a 8mp rear camera with flash led, and 2mp front one. But when i take the pictures it looks like 5mp interpolated to 8mp (Also you can put in the config to get 12MP pictures). So the quality of the lens is not the top, but im not a profesional photografer so i dont care, is really good to take fast pictures, for unexpected moments and keep good memories. The video capture is at 1080P (1920*1080) at 30fps with a descent quality. I will update the post with test pictures soon, im at work now  haha...

About the memory...
Another important thing is the memory, a 16 GB memory, only 1.28GB dedicated and the rest free wich is really good for the apps and games, plus i add an Adata premium 32gb microSD, for my music, videos, pictures and other files. Also have a 1GB RAM memory wich is good enoght.

About the conectivity...
It have GSM all bands, 3G (WCDMA 850, 2100) wich work perfect for my country (México 850), never forget bluethoot, and the GPS wich the first time take a few minutes.

About the Processor...
I also love the procesor MKT6589, wich got 4 cores at 1.2Ghz, it let me play youtube videos, movies on the default player, play a lot of games with a big screen to make it more comfortable and all the activities with 0 lag, very fluid. When i bought it i was hoping to get a phone with MKT6589T wich is 1.5Ghz every core, but i have no complains about this one. And like i comment before it has a little better performance that my Motorola Razr HD wich got a SnapDragon S4 dual core at 1.5Ghz.

About the Battery...
The Battery!! a huge discussion, it have a great battery of 2500mAh, wich in a low performance use it can reach 2 days duration... yes 48 HRS!! but with a common use (Calls, texting, some videos, etc) it last a minimun of 24 hrs, and if i got a hard use, playing, watching videos and listening to music, it can last 12-16 Hrs.

About Personal Use and Comments...
I'm a alltime Mobile phone gamer, every phone that i have got since i got my first nokia with the snake game, has been a game station, maybe sometimes i install a lot of games that some of them i never test it.
Right now i just play 4 games, Temple Run II, Fifa 14, Plants VS Zombies II, Where is my water?2, the two more heavys of them are Fifa 14 and Plants vs Zombies, i use to play a couple of hours. Now... I have the same games in my Razr HD, and when used to play that time in it, the screen and the back of the phone get really hot, like if i could cook a eggs on it and i have to stop playing. But in the Zopo i can play until the battery is gone... without lag, without heat, with a lot of fun.
In the last days i install a cat game (usually the people install it on tablets) but thanks to the size of the screen and the good definition my 2 months kitty loves to play on it.
